The DecPlay course makes it incredibly easy for you to learn piano, whether or not you can already 'read music' (eg the treble clef).

DecPlay does this in 2 ways:-

  1. Teaches playing patterns and techniques that enable rapid progress from beginner to advanced level
  2. Offers an alternative form of sheet music which replaces complex music notation with a simple numbers and patterns language, that is easy to learn within minutes

Advantages of Already Reading Notation

If you already read the treble clef in traditional notation, this is great because it means that you have the choice to play songs using 2 different types of song sheets - the DecPlay 'numbers' format song sheets, or standard song sheets.

Numbers are Easier

Many DecPlay students can read notation before starting the DecPlay course and the vast majority of them find:-
  • the numbers method FAR easier than notation
  • it easy to switch easily between song sheets that use numbers and song sheets that use notation

Benefits of the DecPlay Course

The playing patterns and techniques taught in the DecPlay course apply equally to either type of song sheet, so no matter which you choose, taking the DecPlay course has the following advantages:-
  • much faster to learn songs
  • easier to memorise
  • can play from beginner to advanced levels using the same sheet music
  • lays the foundation for improvisation and learning to play by ear

Benefits of Lead Sheets

'Standard lead sheets' are a style of song sheet which show the melody in notation and the accompaniment in chords. Using chords is much easier and faster than reading every single note in traditional notation and is that standard way that professional musicians play popular music.

Try DecPlay - Without Risk

It is your choice whether you take advantage of the numbers style of song sheet or continue to use notation song sheets.

A lot of DecPlay students can read notation before starting the DecPlay course and the vast majority of them find:-
  • the numbers method FAR easier than notation
  • it easy to switch easily between song sheets that use numbers and song sheets that use notation

MORE INFO

By far the easiest way to play piano is using chords as the accompaniment and then play the melody either using DecPlay's 'PianoTabz' lead sheets, traditional lead sheets, or by ear.

Whichever method you choose, the techniques taught in the DecPlay course has the following advantages:-
  • much faster to learn songs
  • easier to memorise
  • can play from beginner to advanced levels using the same sheet music
  • lays the foundation for improvisation and learning to play by ear

A 'lead sheet' is a song sheet which splits the music into 2 parts - melody (using single notes) and accompaniment (using chords). Lead sheets allow a range of playing styles (from beginner to advanced) using the same song sheet and are much more effective than traditional piano music (which just uses notation without any chords) for playing songs on piano.

Standard lead sheets use notation and DecPlay lead sheets use numbers, which beginner students find much easier and which enables advanced skills (eg intermediate and advanced playing styles, playing by ear, improvising, transposing, etc..)

The playing patterns which are taught in all the DecPlay courses apply equally, whether you are using PianoTabz (numbers) or traditional notation in the form of what's called a lead sheet.  Here is an example of how 'Hallelujah' would look in the PianoTabz format, and in standard lead sheet format:

The Piano Bundle shows you how to play using both formats, and applies not only to beginners,  but also to advanced level.  It includes PianoTabz song libraries, and shows you how to access standard lead sheets on the internet.  We've found that most students who already read notation prefer to use the numbers method.  However, if you prefer to play using standard lead sheets, the Piano Bundle shows you how to do this.

The PianoTabz sheets enable absolute beginners to understand song sheets within minutes and enable advanced playing styles (improvisation, playing by ear and instant transposing).

Students who already read notation have a choice of using either standard lead sheets or Pianotabz lead sheet. We've found that most students who already read notation, still prefer to use the numbers method.  However, if you prefer to play using standard lead sheets, the Piano Bundle course shows you how to do this.

The Piano Bundle course contains details of how to access a vast library of lead sheets as well as free chord sheets.  The Piano Bundle also shows you how to convert any song from traditional notation (in the form of the standard lead sheet shown above) into the numbers format.  This should enable you to play songs of your choosing further down the line.
