WHAT IS THE DECPLAY STUDENT FACEBOOK GROUP?

The free, private, DecPlayer Student Facebook Group is one of the benefits within the optional DecPlayer Club (available for a small monthly fee).

It's a place where you can post questions, get support and meet other students. It's great fun and we would encourage students to join in, and even think about posting up videos of your piano progress!

HOW TO JOIN THE FACEBOOK GROUP

  1. Click the 'join group' blue button beneath the main image at  facebook.com/groups/pianoseniors/
  2. You will be sent confirmation once your membership is approved (usually within a few hours)

IF YOU ARE HAVING DIFFICULTIES JOINING THE FACEBOOK GROUP

FACEBOOK PRIVACY

A Personal FB Account may be opened and all your settings set to 'Private' - people will not be able to see anything that is posted on your page without you giving them access by accepting them as a 'Friend'.

People that you may know on Facebook are able to do a search on your name, similar to a Google search, if they think you might be on Facebook but as long as your setting is 'Private', they will not be able to access your page, if they succeed in finding you, without your permission.
In addition, you can get random 'friend requests' from strangers but you can simply decline all of these requests. You are not obliged to post anything on your Facebook page therefore you can leave it blank and just use it as a means to facilitate your joining of the DecPlay Facebook group.

There is also a facility whereby you can make yourself "unsearchable" on FB - your name will not be brought up if someone should put in a random search.  The link for further information relating to this is below:

The group is a Private Group which this means that nobody other than group members can see the posts.
In addition, applicants have to be given permission to join by a DecPlay Moderator.  This ensures that only students of DecPlay are in the group.

Whereas you would receive notifications of posts on the group, group members would not become friends on your Facebook page. These notifications are easily cancelled by clicking on the blue dot next to them, and you don't have to see what they have posted.

Anyone who doesn't want to join in on Facebook can simply observe.

We, here at DecPlay, monitor the group on a regular basis to ensure that our principles of mutual respect and politeness are maintained.
